Layout, design. 2. Content. 3. Programs 4. Graphics, color. 5. Promotion. 1. Layout and design is very important to keep in mind when building a web site. What I recommend doing is making one page that is designed to your liking, and then make the other pages off of that page so that the web site is consistent in design. In other words its a good idea to keep your site looking the same all the way through. Looking the same I mean the basic outline, and colors. I recommend using tables or frames to organize the data on your site. If you are building a large website for your business or just a large site in general I would suggest using a program like Microsoft Frontpage to get the design methods down.
2. Of course the content of your website is probably the most important. You want to include a lot of information about what your site is based on, otherwise the person viewing it probably won't feel like it was worth the visit. You want to arrange the information so that it is easy to find and easy to navigate. You can arrange the content in tables or frames so that it is easy to view.
3. If you dont know HTML and all of the other coding that is out there for creating web sites there are programs that are fully loaded with all of the tools you need to design a great website. I recommend microsoft Frontpage. If your site is based around graphics there are many programs that are used to make web graphics like, macromedia flash 4, Adobe photoshop, And other web based programs can be used.
4. Graphics and color are two key essentials to making a website look good. Obviously if it is a large website for a business, I wouldnt include too many graphics because the more graphics, the more time the pages take to load. You can mess around with colors and fonts to enhance your sites appearance which is a plus to any viewer!
5. Web promotion is very important if you plan on making money off of your website. There are many ways to promote your site so that you can get more visitors. The number one way is to submit yor site to as many search engines as you can. Some really popular search engines are, Yahoo, Google, Lycos, Hotbot, and altavista. There are also programs that can help you get top ranking on all of the search engines, and thats a definite plus. There are sites on the internet where you can submit your website to a large amount of search engines for free. Some of these are, jimtools.com, and submitit.com
